Sustainable Development

GEKCO encourages active citizenry and understanding of City policy and bylaws.   GEKCO supports sustainable, energy and water-efficient development that protects the biodiversity and wetlands in the area.  We engage with developers on applications where we feel impacts are not sustainable.

The majority of the Greater Kyalami area is outside the Urban Development Boundary and recognised as a Special Management Zone in terms of the Gauteng Environmental Management Framework.

GEKCO supports the prevailing municipal and provincial planning policies:

Proposed roads in the Greater Kyalami Area – K56, PWV9 and PWV5

Provincial and national roads proposed in the 1970’s would affect the Greater Kyalami area if built.  The status of these roads is often questioned.  GEKCO keeps records of these applications and can be contacted for more information.
