Gecko challenges city council in a bid to retain the open spaces of the Greater Kyalami Conservancy.

A Gecko proposal on land use zoning and rates classification to the Johannesburg city council, will be discussed at Region A public information sessions on 21 January.

The proposal follows recent reclassification of properties in the conservancy, from Agricultural, to Residential A, with higher rates.

Gecko and the residents hope to find a solution that would maintain open spaces, to their benefit and to the benefit of the city.

Residents of Glenferness, Kyalami Agricultural Holdings, Extension one, Beaulieu, Bridle Park, Saddlebrook Equestrian Estate and Sun Valley were listed as farm portions and agricultural holdings.
